Yesterday, through an email newsletter from the National Auctioneers Association, we learned that the NAA is pledging to raise a half million dollars over five years to support the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. With readers of this blog and our weekly social media updates now numbering in the thousands, we absolutely want to share this exciting information.
The now-famous hospital was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas and opened in 1962. Its mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Children from all 50 states and from around the world have been treated at St. Jude, which is located in Memphis, TN. The families of children treated at the hospital pay nothing to St. Jude.
According to a news release, NAA’s dedication to funding the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program will help St. Jude train the next generation of its scientific and medical minds. Fellows from more than 30 countries work in the progam and are major contributors to the scientific and clinical mission of St. Jude.
Since 1995, NAA member have raised more than $4 million for the hospital.
